Keskiviikkoisia kirpputorilöytöjä

Olen aikaisemminkin blogissa (ja muualla) hehkuttanut miten mahtavaa tavaraa löytyy kirpputoreilta ja kierrätyskeskuksista. Harmittaa ihan ettei kaikkea ole aina tullut kuvailtua. Ostan kirpputorilta lähinnä lastenvaatteita ja leluja sekä kirjoja, pelejä ja koriste-esineitä. 

Olen aktiivinen lautapelaaja (mitä nyt äitiys hieman verottaa tätä harrastusta) ja olen usein löytänyt loistavia peliklassikkoja niin kuin myös uusia, täysin avaamattomia pelejä kirpputoreilta muutaman euron hintaan. 

Tällä kertaa mukaan lähti kuitenkin kassillinen lastenvaatteita ja yksi Dublon retrolego lelu, josta ei ole nyt kuvaa kun kerkesin varata sen jo joulukalenteri-aarteisiin. 

Keskiviikkoiset kirppis ostokset. Talvitakki (MeToo), housut (Esprit), pitkähihainen body (Marimekko), lyhythihainen body (Marimekko), t-paita (Me&I) ja collegepaita (Lindex).

Pitkähihainen Marimeko body maksoi vain 1€, lyhythihaisesta maksoin 3,5€. Olen aiemminkin ostanut hyvälaatuisia Marimekon bodeja kirppikseltä ja ovat yleensä siinä 3 - 5 € luokkaa. Lindex:n paidasta maksoin 1,5 €. 

MeToo:n toppatakki lämpimällä karvavuorella 10€. Takki on kuin uusi, joko sitä on pidetty todella huolella tai sitten ei lainkaan. Mikä parasta meillä ei vielä talvitakkia löytynytkään.

Esprit:n housut 3€. Housut on vielä toistaiseksi hieman isot, mutta ostan useasti paria kokoa isompaakin vaatetta jos satun löytämään jotain hyvälaatuista. 

Me&I:n dinosaurus t-paita, joka maksoi suhteessa kaiken eniten, eli 10€, mutta koska paita oli niin ihana ja täysin uudenveroinen olin valmis maksamaan sen. Olen täysin hurahtanut dinosauruksiin. Sallittakoon se geologille, eikö niin?

 SuperFit:n varrelliset Goretex kengät 12€, vastaavanlaiset näyttävät uutena maksavan +50€. Talvikengät tulivatkin tarpeeseen, jos en olisi löytänyt niitä kirppikseltä olisi meillä ollut edessä ostosretki pienen nuhanenän kanssa.

Tunnustan olevani tosi kova alennus/tarjous/kirppishaukka ja tulen aina hurjan hyvälle mielelle kun löydän jotain tarpeellista halvalla! :-)

Juhlahumua - onnitteluviirit

Viikonloppuna meillä vietettiin 1-vuotis synttäreitä. Koristelut oli tehty hyvissä ajoin ennen juhlaviikkoa ja hyvä niin! Hommaa oli tarpeeksi muutenkin. Onnitteluviirit on tehty erivärisistä, lähinnä kaksipuolisista, skräppipahveista ja kirjaimina olen käyttänyt Cottage Market:n liitutaulu-kirjaimia. Ne löydät täältä. 

Onnitteluviirien lisäksi olin hankkinut tuoreita kukkia sekä metsästä havuja ja mustikanvarpuja, joista äitini loihti kaksi kaunista kukka-asetelmaa. 

Katossa meillä roikkui vielä valkoisia ja harmaita Ikean pom-pom-koristeita (Visionär), joista ei tainut tulla kuva materiaalia. Pom-pom olin hankkinut aikaisemmin Vappu juhlia varten, joten niistä on ollut iloa useammissakin juhlissa. 

Juhlapöydän koristeet ovat lähinnä edesmenneen mummoni kirjoma pellavainen pöytäliina, toinen kukka-asetelmista, itse tarjoilut sekä pienet cocktailtikkuviirit. 

Täytekakkuna oli vanha kunnon Lamatalven unelma, joka on aikoinaan komeillut myös minun synttäri-ja ylioppilaskakkupöydässä. Se on ehdoton täytekakku lempparini, koska se on jotenkin niin raikas ja pirteä kakku. Täytteenä kakussa on itsetehtyä raparperi-porkkanahilloa (en soseuttanut hilloa, minusta se toimii hyvin ilman soseutusta) sekä jogurtti-kermatäytettä. Nam nam. Suosittelen kokeilemaan. 

Kokeilin myös ensimmäistä kertaa raakakakun tekoa (alimmassa kuvassa oleva marjaisa versio), koska olen jo pitkään halunnut maistaa raakakakkuja ja se sopii mainiosti erikoisruokavalioille. Kakku onnistui maultaan tosi hyvin, mutta koostumus jäi kaikista yrityksistä huolimatta hieman löysäksi. 

Kuvien kanssa ongelmia

Goolgen tallennus on herjaillut liian täydestä boxista jo jonkin aikaan. Luulin ratkaisseeni ongelman vähentämällä kuvien määrää, sainkin aikaan aivan uuden ongelman, eli blogin jossa ei ole lainkaan kuvia. Hmmpphh....

Puutarhassa

Ostin askarteluliikkeestä liitutaulutikkuja ja miniliitutauluja kasvimaalle. Minusta ne siemenpussihässäkät ja valmiiden taimien mukana tulleet muovi-info-tikut (mitkä lie?) eivät olleet kovin kauniita, joten jotain piti keksiä. Näin vastaavanlaisia jossain toisessa blogissa, jota seuraan. En tietenkään tähän hätään muista missä, mutta näitähän taitaa olla esillä kuin sieniä sateella, joten onko sillä niin väliäkään. Toinen kiva vaihtoehto mielestäni olisi ollut pyöreät, litteät luonnonkivet, joihin voisi tussilla kirjoittaa kasvien nimet.

 Askarteluksi tätä ei voi väittää, kun ostaa valmiit tikut ja vaan kirjoittaa niihin kasvien nimet, mutta jotain itse tehtyä näissäkin kuvissa esiintyy - nimittäin puinen kasvilaatikko. Se on tehty jämälaudasta (kierrätystä!) terassin nurkkaan vesipisteen lähelle.

Vinkki

Löysin Lidlstä sattumalta Crelandon värikartonki pakkauksen. Ostin kokeeksi 25 värikartongin pakkauksen ja olen todennut sen olevan tosi hyvää. Pakkauksella oli muistaakseni hintaa €4.99, joten mielestäni myös kohtuu edullista tälläisestä 24 x 34 cm kokoisesta tukevasta (270 g/m2) kartongista.

Siellä oli tarjolla myös 50 arkin pakkaus hieman ohuempaa (135 g/m2) paperia / kartonkia, jota taidan kokeilla seuraavaksi. 

Mielestäni hyvälaatuista ja sopii vallan hyvin korttiaskarteluun. Suosittelen!

Down time

On return from New Year's celebrations I arrived home to find my laptop in a sorry state. Somehow its screen had been damaged and was newly decorated with horizontal and vertical stripes! Luckily I have a comprehensive home insurance to carry on the financial burden of such mysterious failures in technology, but the outlook of not having a computer for couple of weeks was pretty upsetting.

Imagine my horror now 18 days later of the incident, 15 days in the computer repair shop, zillion query phone calls and emails later and they haven't even ordered the parts. They were supposed to get an repair estimate for the insurance company in 3 days, it has now been two weeks. How bloody difficult it is to send the stupid estimate? Needles to say that I'm frustrated. Once I get the estimate it still needs to go through my insurance company and once the repair shop has received the money they can only start ordering spare parts. Any guesses how long this is gonna take? Judging by their performance so far - f****g forever.

I miss you Vaio.... come home soon

Blogger improvements

I love this new feature on Blogger where the 'Next Blog' button on the top menu will take you to a blog with similar topics. How amazing is that? I read about it little while ago and just remembered to try it out. Instead of classic cars fan club or tortoise and frog poetry (yeah, I know!) I can find interesting pages by jewelry artists.

Dreaming of the weekend

Pouring rain and houling winds in the darkness of the night, except it is only 7pm. Anticipation of the coming weekend keeps me from not feeling the weather. I am finally looking forward to great company, nights out in the town, relaxation in posh hotels, pampering in a spa and a hike along a beautiful Irish coastline. Halloween weekend here I come!

For those of us who store decades and decades of ugly birthday, anniversary or christmas gifts from their husbands and boyfriends - it is time to raid the jewellery box and get rid of the junk! Gold price sky high you can exchange your ugly arse jewellery (that you would have never picked yourself) into cash and treat yourself for something new, something YOU will like!

How to pick what goes and what stays?
Normally a good rule of thumb is to discard anything you haven't worn in the past year or two. This is the rule normally applied to ones wardrobe. What is the point in storing jeans from you teenage years in a hope they will fit you once again? Let's face it - for most of us, it's never gonna happen. Be cautious though. Many of us have inherited jewellery from our parents or grandparents which although, we will never wear, will hold much more value than the simple conversion of ounces to cash. Besides sentimental value, your family heirloom may turn out to be sought after antique. So, do your homework!

My jewellery box contains very little gold, so I can forget about turning my gold for cash. 90% of my gold jewellery is self-made and rest just don't make up enough to be worthwhile. In fact, up till I started making my own jewellery (some 4-5 years ago) I passionately hated gold. I'm still not the biggest fan, but I have made few pieces which I quite like.

'Golden Touch' has beautiful natural white freshwater pearls and 24k gold.

Faceted citrine drops and 24K gold make up these dangling 'Goldilocks' earrings.

Exquisite lemon smoky quartz droplets from Earth Bazaar on 24k chain make up 'Whisky&Jack'.

Although, I think that turning unwanted things to cash is a great idea, I don't think I am quite ready to start turning my gold to cash. Would you?

Lilypad style

About year ago I was introduced to TV-sitcom which has been frequently referred to as the new Friends. I was instantly hooked to 'How I Met Your Mother' and it didn't take much longer for me to fall in love with the show's costume styling. My absolute favourite wardrobe is worn by Lily Aldrin played by he fiery red head Alison Hannigan, also known from 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer 'and 'the American Pie' movies. Here is a quick overview of what I think is the best of Lily's.

One of my favourite Lilypad style moments was during third season when Lily confessed her shopaholic tendencies to Robin. For the life of it I cannot find pictures from this episode anywhere. Only one I could get my hands on is portraying Lily in the mids of blissful shoe heaven. And last but not least...awww! In the latest HIMYM episode Lily wore this amazing silk(?) blouse, which you can only see a tiny bit of in the last picture. I'm hopeful more promo photos of the latest episode will turn up soon. Normally I would be relying on SeenON! for the latest showbiz fashion advise, but my search turn up nil hits :-(

Let loose in Dublin

Today was a much needed break from work with one agenda only - shopping! I headed to Dublin with some friends to browse what the Irish / Bristish autumn fashion had to offer. Luckily browsing wasn't all I had to do, at the end of a long (and suprisingly enough sunny) day I managed tick every item off my 'neccessity-buy' list and even bag some amazing finds.

Here are few of the things I brought home with me tonight.

Navy blue vest top with beautiful neckline detail from Miss Selfridges (amazing find), slouch leather buckle bag in tan from River Island (neccessity-buy), electric blue ruched purse by John Rocha for Debemhams (neccessity-buy - you should see the shape of my old purse ;-/) and a black bow head band from Aldo (neccessity-buy - my hair accessory for next weekend's wedding).

I have been lusting after a tan (dark beige) leather bag for a while, so I was jumping from joy when I found this beauty screaming my name. My precious!

Plasticiens Volants

End of my summer holiday was marked by a Night of the Arts which was part of the Helsinki festival 2009. Its main attraction Plasticiens Volants' show Perle transformed the darkening late summer evening at the Senate Square into a colourful ocean aquarium.

On this rainy Sunday afternoon these images make yet another lonely day far away from home seem little bit more bearable.
